Did Microsoft remove database diagrams from Visual Studio 2013?

entity-framework sql-server visual-studio visual-studio-2013

Question

Database diagrams were how I used to generate all of my table relationships, but since installing VS2013, the feature doesn't seem to be there. Can I turn it back on or was it fully turned off?

Accepted Answer

They have, regrettably.

From zz-9 to zzzz:

"In earlier releases of Visual Studio, Visual Database Tools were used to develop and maintain database diagrams as well as tables, queries, and views. Although SQL Server Database Tools offer replacement features to assist you in creating tables, queries, and views, Visual Database Tools have been deprecated in Visual Studio 2013. Check out SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT).

Database diagrams are not replaced by Visual Studio 2013 or SQL Server Database Tools. To deal with database diagrams, utilize SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). With SQL Server 2012 SP1 Express (download center), SSMS is installed.
