Note: Visual Studio must be closed while you are working on this. You need to restart Visual Studio after everything is finished.

I experienced the same issue. I fix this issue by transferring two files, such as

two files: EntityFrameworkConfig 6 0 0.xsd and EntityFrameworkCatalog.xml

from https://entityframework.codeplex.com/SourceControl/latest#src/EFTools/setup/EFToolsMsi/XmlSchemas/EntityFrameworkCatalog.xml

then insert those files in

Folder "Program Files, in C: XML for Microsoft Visual Studio 10.0 Schemas"

Download the complete zip file from the aforementioned URL first. then, extract the XML and XSD files mentioned above from the site listed below.

"src\EFTools\setup\EFToolsMsi\XmlSchemas"

to, and copy

"zzz-55 zzz"

Why? Because software is changed daily. We are required to employ updated software as a result.

The EF6 Designer for VS2012 may be downloaded from " http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40762 ", and installing it will update the schema that verifies configuration files.
