EF select: Return Tuple

.net c# entity-framework linq-to-entities

Question

How can I use EF4 to fetch multiples at select?

        var productCount = (from product in context.products
                    select new Tuple<Product, int>(product, products.Orders.Count));

Or

        var productCount = (from product in context.products
                    select Tuple.Create(product, products.Orders.Count));

According to Entity Framework, the first example cannot utilize a constructor that is not empty and the triple is not recognized. Create a second technique.

Why not change the projection to LINQ-to-Objects?

var productCount = from product in context.products
                select new {Product = product, Count = products.Orders.Count };
var final = from item in productCount.AsEnumerable()
            select Tuple.Create(item.Product, item.Count);

Try

 var productCount = from product in context.products
                    select new { product, Count = products.Orders.Count };

This will give you back an anonymous type that closely resembles the tuple http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb738512.aspx.
