Is EntityFramework compatible with an Access 2007 database (.accdb)?

entity-framework ms-access

Question

I'm attempting to develop an MVC application using an Access 2007 database (.accdb). I can use the DataSet to build the Model. However, VS2008 won't let me go beyond the requirement that the connection string be a SQL server if I attempt to construct a Model using EntityFramework. I must be mistaken, or EF doesn't work with Access.

There are only ADO.NET providers that support the Entity Framework. I'm assuming you use the OleDB provider, which doesn't support EF, to access your Access database. Only SQL Server and SQL Server CE are the only ADO.NET providers offered by Microsoft that support EF. For other DBMS, you may locate third-party vendors, though:

There may be a lot more, but as far as I'm aware, nothing for Access (which IMHO in not much of a DBMS anyway...)
