The ADO.NET provider with invariant name 'MySql.Data.MySqlClient' is either not registered in the machine or application config file

c# connector-net entity-framework-6 mysql

Question

I have an entity framework 6 solution for asp.net that connects to a mysql server.

I must now use a fresh computer to work on that answer.
But I'm having some issues:
1) I get the following error while constructing the solution: The system or application config file does not have the ADO.NET provider with the invariant name "MySql.Data.MySqlClient" registered, according to the error message.

App.config:

<entityFramework>
  <providers>
    <provider invariantName="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" type="MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlProviderServices, MySql.Data.Entity.EF6, Version=6.9.9.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d"></provider>
  </providers>
</entityFramework>
<system.data>
  <DbProviderFactories>
    <remove invariant="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" />
    <add name="MySQL Data Provider" invariant="MySql.Data.MySqlClient" description=".Net Framework Data Provider for MySQL" type="MySql.Data.MySqlClient.MySqlClientFactory, MySql.Data, Version=6.9.9.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=c5687fc88969c44d" />
  </DbProviderFactories>
</system.data>

2) I receive the following notice when I open a model.edmx file:
"The file you requested cannot be shown by the entity mode designer."

I've put these things on the computer:

1) the MySQL connector/net 6.9.9
2) MySQL 1.2.6 for Visual Studio
mysql connection odbc 5.3.6, third.

How can I help?

Popular Answer

I tried the majority of the online recommendations, but regrettably they all failed. The problem occurs because visual studio lacks for MySql connector and I have solved it by installing mysql-connector-net-7.0.4 (https://downloads.mysql.com/archives/c-net/)
