Offset/Fetch based paging (Implementation) in EntityFramework (Using LINQ) for SQL Server 2008

entity-framework entity-framework-6 pagination sql-server sql-server-2008

Question

I'm using Entity Framework 6.1.3 and SQL Server 2008 together. I want to use OFFSET/FETCH pagination of the data instead of Take() & Skip ().

I had little success with my internet search. In several postings, switching to SQL Server 2012 was advised. Which, in my situation, is not a choice.

How should I use OFFSET/FETCH with SQL Server 2008 and EF 6.1.3, please?

The solution is to alter the value of ProviderManifestToken from 2012 to 2008 in your EDMX file using an XML editor. That was on line 7 of my EDMX file, I noticed. Following the saving of that update, the paging SQL will be produced using the "oeold" syntax that is compatible with SQL Server 2008.
