.NET Entity Framework ORM for PHP

.net database entity-framework orm php

Question

I'm a PHP novice and.NET developer. I'm curious whether PHP has an ORM similar to the Entity Framework seen in the Microsoft.NET Framework.

Exist any tools or utilities that would make handling data quicker and simpler?

Doctrine can produce your table to PHP class mappings using YAML, which is comparable to NHibernate's mappings using XML. I'd advise you to have a look at Doctrine ORM. Additionally, Doctrine offers command-line tools that allow you to rebuild specific components of your data layer in response to changes made to your schema, your models, or the database tables you're abstracting over.

I haven't really utilized NHibernate; I've only looked at it. Therefore, I wouldn't assert that I am fully aware of how well the two ORMs methods overlap; I'm sure a fast read at their documentation would enable you to make a more informed judgment.

Swift Data is a decent substitute that uses a contemporary PHP data persistence technique. It was once a component of the Agile Toolkit (http://www.agiletoolkit.org), but has since been refactored into a standalone framework.
