I have an mdf file I access via ADO.NET entity framework. The file is in a folder that is synced by Google Drive desktop app.
If Google Backup and Sync has accessed the file before, it doesn't even have to be currently syncing the file, then my program cannot connect to the database.
"The underlying provider failed on Open."
To get around, I turn off Google Drive syncing app while using the program.
Anyone know a real solution?
You don't want to access the MDF (or the log) files while the database is attached to a running SQL server instance. You should make a real SQL server backup to another folder, which you can sync to google drive. That way you can also use backup compression, which most likely will mean you have to transfer less data over the internet.
